Recorded on and off from 2017 to 2018.

During the recording process Memory Mines' hard drive was corrupted and all original song files were lost. Dream Eater was the first album made on the new replacement hard drive.

"Dream Eater" is a Pokemon move. Memory Mines' first instrumental album has been renamed many times, but was finally named "Vine Whip" another Pokemon move. All future instrumental albums will be 7 tracks and be named after Pokemon moves.

The album was created during a yearly process of repair from a broken relationship. The title "Love Letter in Paper Shredder" comes from a literal real life experience before the recording process began.

"Chopsticks Aren't That Hard to Use" is the opening song for the youtube series "Places Ivory Goes" in which a man and his dog travel to mountainous and abandoned places.

"Clarisse McClellan Tastes the Rain" has sound clips from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. At the end of the track the sound clip mentions reading books. Clarisse McClellan is a character from the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. In the novel, society isn't allowed to read books.

"Even a traitor may mend," is a quote from the book "The Horse and His Boy" by C.S. Lewis.

Faye Valentine is a character from the anime show "Cowboy Bebop".

A "cannon rush" is a specific tactic in Starcraft 2 for the alien Protoss race that makes it difficult for the other character to get their economy started. It is considered "cheesy".

The title track of the album presents the reality that following Christ frees you from your earthly dreams. That human plans and desires are fleeting and only Christ will fulfill and last. He is the dream eater.
